CBD and dementia

CBD and dementia
When talking about dementia, we are not talking about specific diseases, because the concept covers various types of diseases that manifest in the loss of memory, problems with speech and cognitive problems. The most common form of dementia is Alzheimer’s disease. Dementia is therefore a brain disease that affects brain functions such as thinking, memory, orientation, understanding, learning, etc.

Alzheimer’s disease

Alzheimer’s disease is the most common cause of dementia and usually develops after 65 year of age. Its main symptoms are memory loss, thinking problems and changes in behaviour.

The symptoms develop slowly and eventually become so pronounced that they make the patient’s daily life difficult, with the burden being passed on to those closest to them.

Alzheimer’s disease initially manifests itself in the form of memory loss, while in the more severe stage, the patient begins to have difficulty understanding and speaking, which usually manifests itself in unrelated and meaningless sentences.

Dementia symptoms

Dementia is a disease that progresses progressively, so it is important to see a doctor at the first sign and slow its progress as quickly as possible.

Signs of dementia or Alzheimer’s disease manifest in the form of memory loss, difficulty concentrating and understanding, orientation problems, and a major challenge for patients is financial management and daily tasks such as housework and driving.

The treatment of dementia with CBD

In recent years, CBD has become increasingly popular as a treatment for dementia, especially Alzheimer’s disease.

CBD is known to reduce inflammation, which is a major cause of dementia, while also preventing brain cell breakdown and oxygen accumulation.

In Alzheimer’s disease, oxygen is released in the brain as a result of inflammation, which causes disorders in memory and thinking. The greater the amount of oxygen in the brain, the worse the cognitive and memory disorders are.

CBD, acting as an antioxidant, reduces the concentration of oxygen in the brain and thereby alleviates the symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease. In recent studies, CBD should not only alleviate the symptoms of this disease, but also prevent its further development.
