THE MOST FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT CBD

What's CBD?

CBD is a component or a so-called cannabinoid found in hemp (Cannabis Sativa) – a plant with an extremely rich history that has been used for millennia to treat a wide variety of diseases. CBD is a cannabinoid that, unlike THC, is not psychoactive. It was first discovered in the 1940s, but at the time, research focused primarily on studying THC and its effects. It was only in the 1990s that professor Raphael Mechoulam discovered the healing power of CBD and the so-called endocannabinoid system.

Will I be drugged by CBD?

No, CBD is not psychoactive.

Is it legally allowed to use CBD?

Yes. Hemp-derived CBD products are legal, but it is required not to advertise them as medicinal products. Hemp or industrial hemp in the EU contains less than 0.2% THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) and is therefore outside the scope of the 1971 drug abuse law. Therefore, the sale of CBD products on the basis of hemp is perfectly legal. However, it is illegal to advertise such products as medicinal products, unless licensed by the Agency for Medicinal Products and Medical Devices of the Republic of Slovenia.

Therefore, a number of CBD products based on hemp are advertised as cosmetics or food supplements instead. There are some sellers on the market that legally produce medical CBD oil with the appropriate authorisation.

The recent adoption of the 2018 Agriculture Act in USA made all products from hemp and their derivatives allowed on the federal level.

What's the difference between marijuana and hemp?

Both cannabis and marijuana belong to the same plant genus of Cannabis, with marijuana being the “name” of the species Cannabis Indica and common (either edible or industrial) hemp being the name of the species Cannabis Sativa. The essential difference between both plants is the content of CBD and THC they each produce. If marijuana typically contains up to 30% THC, industrial hemp contains a maximum of 0.2% THC, which makes it perfectly legal in European countries.

What's the difference between CBD and THC?

CBD is a cannabinoid that, unlike THC, is not psychoactive. This means that after consuming CBD, we don’t feel intoxication or other effects typical of THC. CBD is therefore a perfectly safe substance that does not cause intoxication and addiction and has a number of positive effects on the human body. Together with other cannabinoids, they interact nicely in achieving homeostasis.

What are cannabinoids?

Cannabinoids are chemical compounds in hemp that bind to cannabinoid receptors found throughout the body and are part of the endocannabinoid system. We know 3 types of cannabinoids:

  • Endocannabinoids are cannabinoids produced by the human organism
  • Phytocannabinoids are produced by various plants, with by far the most being found in hemp
  • Synthetic cannabinoids are produced in the laboratory

How does CBD affect our body?

CBD directly “communicates” with our endocannabinoid system, which is full of cannabinoid receptors. CBD sends the information directly to the core of our cells and thus helps ease a wide range of conditions, reduces acute inflammation and helps strengthen our immune system; it is also known for its detoxifying effects.

What are the benefits of CBD?

Let us just say that CBD helps in over 20,000 areas. This is because CBD does not focus on any area directly. It works as a lock and spreads around the body through millions of endocannabinoid receptors. The purpose of this system – which is not the same as your immune system – is to coordinate the interaction of all the other systems in your body. CBD thus has deep and far-reaching health benefits.

Cannabinoids are produced naturally in our bodies. They work on the endocannabinoid system that regulates pain, mood, memory, response to stress, immune function, sleep, appetite and many other areas. Complementarity with CBD, a plant cannabinoid, can have a favourable influence on this system.

Do your products contain THC?

Our hemp products contain THC in trace amounts and always less than 0.2%.

Where is your hemp grown?

Our source provides hemp of Slovenian origin.

Does ABBA Nutrition use CO2 extraction in hemp processing?

Yes.

Does ABBA Nutrition follow the GMP (good manufacturing practices) guidelines?

Yes.

Do you test your CBD products?

Our CBD products are tested by the independent laboratories of other manufacturers and we are checking the content of heavy metals, microbial contamination, solvents, pesticides and, of course, cannabinoids such as CBD, THC etc.

What’s the difference between oil from hemp seeds and hemp oil (hemp extract)?

Hemp seeds don’t contain cannabinoids and terpenes. Hemp seed oil has an excellent ratio of essential fatty acids, which is why it is often used as a carrier oil. However, for terpenes and cannabinoids such as CBD, the extract from non-seed parts of the plant (buds or flowers) should be used. To obtain CBD and other plant nutrients such as terpenes, we use hemp extract with a full spectrum of cannabinoids. CBD is then hosted in a carrier oil such as MCT coconut oil or black cumin oil.

Will consuming your products lead to a failed test for drug presence?

Since our hemp products contain THC in traces less than 0.2%, we cannot ensure that you will pass a drug test after consuming our products.

What are your prices of CBD compared to other CBD products?

We’re glad you asked! As part of our social mission to make CBD accessible to all, we have decided to accept a significantly reduced profit margin. We guarantee the best ratio between price and efficiency. You’ll get the best for your money.

Why can I trust ABBA Nutrition?

We are proud of two things – our exceptional capacity and purity and providing our consumers with low prices and superior quality. Many other brands that sell CBD products have a limited vision and purpose; we want to be the ones to change the norms and milestones in this industry.

Is the product tested on animals?

No. Neither the end product or individual ingredients are tested on animals.

How much vitamin C is contained in the capsules?

1 capsule (daily dose) contains 100 mg of vitamin C in a combination of acerola extract and ascorbic acid.

Do ABBA Nutrition products contain allergens?

ABBA Nutrition products do not contain the most common allergens: gluten, soya, lactose, nuts and celery.

Can I use the product in capsules in combination with other food supplements and medications?

CBD is a completely natural dietary supplement and can be consumed in combination with other dietary supplements and medications. If you are taking medications for more serious medical conditions, we recommend that you consult your personal physician on the use of CBD.

How do I consume capsules, resin and drops?

Take the capsule with any liquid, preferably on an empty stomach as CBD will be absorbed faster.

The resin or drops are usually consumed by dripping the recommended dose under the tongue, holding it for a minute or two and then swallowing. The thinnest mucous membrane is located under the tongue, which enables extremely fast absorption.

What's the difference between CBD paste/resin and CBD drops?

CBD paste is pure extract from hemp buds. A pinch of oil can be added to this thick paste/resin to make it easier to consume. However, CBD drops or oil are very diluted forms of CBD paste to get lower levels of CBD in the product and to make the use even easier.

Are CBD products legal?

CBD is a perfectly safe and legal substance that can be used in Slovenia and most European countries for treatment purposes. It is a natural compound made using high-quality industrial hemp buds with excellent beneficial effects on the health and well-being. CBD is a completely non-psychoactive substance and therefore does not cause a sense of intoxication.

How should I store CBD? What's the expiration date?

It is recommended that our CBD products should be stored as noted on the packaging: in a cold and dark place (such as a refrigerator). We believe that you will use up the product much sooner, but the shelf life of our products is 2 years.

How do I know it’s safe to buy CBD online?

ABBA Nutrition demonstrates the quality of its products with certificates and certified analyses. Two aspects must be taken into account when purchasing CBD products:

  • CBD is obtained from industrial hemp
  • Products contain less than 0.2% THC, i.e. no more than stipulated by law
